GISP
The Government Internet Service Provider (GISP) was formed in 1997 and subsequently became operational in 1998. It is mandated to deliver cyber services to all Zimbabwe Government’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies. In summary, GISP provides cyber services to the Executive, Judiciary and the Legislature.

To promote the Zimbabwe Government's drive towards the attainment of total eGovernment services to the Zimbabwe Citizenry.

The GISP is mandated to provide cyber services to the whole of the Zimbabwe Government. The mandate is through a 1997 policy on connectivity and another of 2011 on websites.

Overview
The Government of Zimbabwe realised that Internet was not only an imperative technology, but also had become the main medium of communication among people, and already impacted on the ways people communicate with each other. Conversation and/or communication was thus no longer exclusively a face to face act or a simple chat over the phone. Hence the birth of GISP in 1998.
