ICT

  • National ICT Policy.

The policy sets out Zimbabwe’s vision to become a knowledge-based society with ubiquitous connectivity by 2030, and declares its mission as “exploiting the potential of ICTs for sustainable socio-economic development”. It is organised around key pillars including infrastructure & services; regulatory and institutional frameworks; digital society; human capacity, trust and security; emerging technologies; inclusivity; industry growth; and sustainability. The policy emphasises boosting broadband access, especially in underserved rural areas; facilitating smart government, smart agriculture, health and cities; fostering local ICT industries and innovation; strengthening digital skills; ensuring equal access for marginalised groups; and enabling partnerships and investment in the ICT sector.

  • Cyber-and-Data-Protection-Act.

The Cyber and Data Protection Act was enacted in December 2021 to regulate the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs), protect personal data, and combat cybercrime in Zimbabwe. It aligns with regional and international standards like the African Union Convention on Cyber Security and Personal Data Protection (Malabo Convention).
